Indulging In My Guilty Pleasure

I’m a big health buff. I take several different types of vitamins. I spend for costly dietary supplements, all in the hopes of becoming as healthy as possible. But the big irony is that I indulge in guilty pleasures that are anything but healthy. You name it -cigarette (and pot on occasions), booze, unhealthy sleeping, and eating habits, and I have it.

But heck, that’s how I am, paradoxical in many ways. No wonder people think I’m odd. What do you know? These contradictions may have the balancing effect I need. All the dietary supplements I’m taking may just offset the risks of smoking and drinking. Besides, I don’t ever want to quit cigarette or booze. And I actually have good reasons for not wanting to.

For one, cigarette cases are just way too fabulous. If I quit smoking, I won’t have any reason for bringing them around anymore. And practically everybody around me smokes. Even if I do quit smoking, I will still be inhaling second hand smoke, which is just as perilous. If I don’t smoke, I will be getting all the adverse effects without enjoying my guilty pleasure. And oh, my favorite Zippo will lose its utility. What a shame.
And what if I give up drinking? My uber posh leather wine carrier will be gathering dust at the pantry. Nobody wants that. And my social life will be totally dead, not to mention the family ties severed. I won’t be able to bond with my friends anymore. Now imagine all the profound talks I will be missing.

Besides, it’s my privilege to be born in this post-Prohibition era. During the Jazz era, when booze stopped flowing because of the dry forces’ success to move forward a law banning the distribution of alcohol, people had to go underground to get a decent drink. Some had to make their own alcoholic drink at home while others had to get false prescriptions just so they can get their hand at some medicinal whiskey. It would be a shame to let alcohol pass me by when they’re so much more accessible.

Also, I am aware of my unhealthy eating habits. But if I do take on a healthy sleeping schedule, I will not be seeing my friends anymore, or any member of my family for that matter. But why, they are all a bunch of night owls. As for the unhealthy food I eat, I will be getting them only now, while I’m alive. So why miss on them? I won’t be having them when I’m dead.

Some Fun Halloween Activies For Children

Most kids love all things Halloween. As adults, we think it’s because Halloween means candy and kids usually love candy. But many children love more than just the abundance of candy at Halloween time. They really get into the ghoulish aspect of the holiday and delight in the displays of goopy brains and squishy body parts.

A game that’s always popular is to take a cardboard box and paint it black, both the inside and outside. Carve a small hole in the top, really just large enough for the kids to get their hands into, and fill the box with a variety of items. They can be related to Halloween (like a small pumpkin) or not (wrapped Tootsie rolls or a tiny toy Hummer car). Have the kids guess what’s inside the box and award the box itself to the child who guesses the most number of items correctly. To make this goopy and silly, be sure to include some items that might feel like body parts or brain matter.

Kids love creating silly fictional stories, often with absurd plotlines. Halloween is the optimum time to let them run wild with their imaginations. Have them spend a bit of time writing out the scariest story they can think of. Some kids might need some direction not to make it ridiculously grotesque, so use caution with these kids in your clarification of this task. Once the stories are written, have the kids hand them in and then have a guest reader for each one of them. Each child will come to the front of the class and read the story with as much dramatization as they can muster. Once the story is read, everyone has to guess who wrote the story. The writer should play along, otherwise everyone will know it was their story! The winner is the child who wrote a story so intriguing and unusual that nobody knew it was his or hers!

Kids love the word find games when you give them a word or words relating to a holiday or something else and have them find words within those words. In this case, give them Halloween-related words and ask them to find as many scary words as they can. For example, you might give them the word “Halloween” and see how many scary words they can make from the letters. Or you could give them a series of words and let them rearrange the letters in all of the words to create scary words, or even create a story from the scary words. Put a time limit on this game and award a prize for the kid who creates the most words in the least amount of time.

The main problem affecting those who are on the receiving end of a dumping is they suddenly have issues with their self esteem and translate the actions of their ex as being the general feelings of the rest of the population.

Is It A Relationship Worth Going Back To?

This time should be dedicated to analyzing your relationship in a very objective way. By agreeing with the break up, you have got your ex thinking about the way you reacted. Even if you’re reading this sometime after being dumped you can still drop them a note or make a phone call and reiterate your position.

By analyzing, we mean looking at the good and bad things about your relationship. Think what attracted them to you.

Then make a thorough analysis of your findings and weigh up the negative aspects against the positives. If the negatives far outweigh the positives then there are two things you need to ask yourself - can you turn things around and if not, why would you want your ex back?

Remember, handling a relationship break up takes courage but you will only succeed if you can separate fiction from reality.

To Lose Custody Of Your Kids, Give Them Strange Names

In the old days, child-naming was more straightforward. Parents did not have to scratch names off a list using their Cross pens. There was no elaborate fuss over whom the child should be named after.

Odd and Odder

Today, parents put much thought into their children’s names. Thanks to celebrities’ penchant for picking out bizarre names, the rest of humanity has followed suit by the minute.

More recently, a couple in New Zealand lost custody of their daughter when they named her Talula Does the Hula from Hawaii. A family court judge gave the order after it was learned the child felt so humiliated by the name she refused to share it with her friends. Rather than admit her parents had named her Talula Does the Hula from Hawaii, the little girl insisted her name is K.

Quirky Is Not Always Criminal

In his ruling, the judge said parents should not give their offspring strange names as this exposes them to ridicule by their peers. He said poor judgment when it comes to names would only be a social disability and an unnecessary handicap to a child who, unwittingly, has to bear the burden of being called Talula Does the Hula from Hawaii. To demonstrate his point better, the judge gave a list of names that may be deemed detrimental to a child’s well-being, among them:

1. Yeah Detroit
2. Sex Fruit
3. Fish and Chips
4. Stallion
5. Keenan Got Lucy
6. Twisty Poi

Not all odd names are considered damaging to child psychology, though. In fact, in the same ruling, the judge also included names that, though strange, were allowed by the court, specifically:

1. Number 16 Bus Shelter
2. tragically, Violence
3. Midnight Chardonnay

This ruling brings to light one aspect of New Zealand legislation that is not like any in the world. Before parents can whip out a Cross pen set and register the quirky name of their child, they have to consider the law does not allow names that would cause offense to a reasonable person.

Creative, Quick And Easy Pet Halloween Costume Ideas

Why let the humans have all of the fun? Dog Halloween costumes have taken front stage in many areas. Whether you want to dress your pooch to match you or to compliment your Halloween costume, dressing up your dog can be fun.
